Music opportunities abound at St. John's. The Agape Singers (choir) sing at least one Sunday a month from September through May. Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursdays, usually at 6:30 pm. The singers also participate in additional worship services during special seasons of the church year.
There are numerous opportunities for solo vocalists and instrumentalists to participate in worship at St. John's and current members who play violin, baritone and flute participate often either by themselves or accompanying other soloists and/or the choir. Guest vocalists, instrumentalists and ensembles from the community also offer their talents for worship at St. John's on a frequent basis.
Sunday School students, older youth and special needs youth have opportunities to offer musical talents for worship during the Christmas and Lenten/Easter season and other times throughout the year. This is a re-developing ministry at St. John's and new growth and participation is eagerly anticipated.
St. John's is blessed to have a full 3-octave handbell set and while there is not an active handbell choir at present, this music ministry can be explored if there is sufficient interest.
Please feel free to contact Paula Steinert, Music Director (920-410-2253) if you are interested in more information on any of musical opportunities at St. John's!
Oshkosh Seniors' Center Golden Tones Chorus rehearsals for the 2018-2019 season begin Monday, September 10 at 1:30 pm in the South Building Oasis Room. If you are 50 years or age or older, you are welcome to join this fun, hard-working group! This 4-part chorus sings a variety of music for nursing homes, assisted living facilities, community groups, weddings, funerals, anniversaries, church groups etc. and presents two "big" concerts each year (summer and December) at the Seniors Center. All voice parts are welcome, but there is always a need for more "male voices," (bass, baritone or tenor). Contact either Jane Wells at the Center (920-232-5308) or Paula Steinert, director (920-410-2253) for more info.
Oshkosh Chamber Singers rehearsals begin Tuesday, August 28 at 7:00 pm in the Choir Room of the Arts & Communications Building at UW-Oshkosh. This 4-part by-audition choir usually performs 3 concerts per season, Fall concert in October; Lessons & Carols concerts in December and a spring concert. Annual dues are $50.00 and there is a cost for concert attire. Concert, ticket and participation information is available via the Chamber Singers' website and/or Facebook page. Paula Steinert can also provide further information for those interested in participating with or learning more about OCS.
If you know of a special musical event or concert you would like mentioned on this page, please let me know!
