Music Notes

St. John's Music Ministry Schedule

Rehearsal & Date Schedule

Greetings All!  While we all continue to shelter in place for another month, I wanted to wish you continued good health and safety. I truly hope that you and yours are doing well and if anyone has been dealing with the virus, I hope and pray recovery comes soon.  For the time being, Agape Singers and Voices of Hope rehearsals and worship participation remain on hold until we all have clearance to gather again in the church building. I miss all of you and I thank you for the phone calls, texts, emails and cards that I've received and I will continue too to reach out to many of you during this time.  How wonderful it will be to make music once again!  In the meantime, God bless and check out the weekly services on our website!  Paula

(Under the community section please replace what is there with the following)

As the Oshkosh Seniors' Center remains closed during the pandemic, the Golden Tones Chorus is not currently rehearsing or performing.  We will keep you posted if their July 11 2020 concert is rescheduled.

The Oshkosh Chamber Singers' Spring Concert scheduled for May 16 has been RESCHEDULED for Saturday October 24. Anyone who already purchased tickets for May will be able to use those tickets in October.  More details at a later date.

The Oshkosh Area Community Band is not currently rehearsing or performing.   We will keep you abreast of future updates for any summer events.

Oh what a joy it will be to have live music return!!

Thanks Sara.....Paula Steinert

Music opportunities abound at St. John's.  "Agape Singers" is our adult choir (teens and young adults of course welcome!) that sings choral anthems in harmony. Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursdays, usually at 6:30 pm(check calendar). The singers also participate in additional worship services during special seasons of the church year.  "Voices of Hope" is our special needs choir open to older youth and adults and they joyously rehearse on Mondays at 4:00 pm(check calendar), providing music at least once a month for Sunday worship.

There are numerous opportunities for solo vocalists and instrumentalists to participate in worship at St. John's and current members who play violin, baritone and flute participate often either by themselves or accompanying other soloists and/or the choir. Guest vocalists, instrumentalists and ensembles from the community also offer their talents for worship at St. John's on a frequent basis.

Sunday School students and teens have opportunities to offer their musical talents for worship during the Christmas and Lenten/ Easter seasons and other times throughout the year.  This is a re-developing ministry at St. John's and new growth and participation is eagerly anticipated.

St. John's is blessed to have a full 3-octave handbell set and while there is not an active handbell choir at present, this music ministry can be explored if there is sufficient interest.

Please feel free to contact Paula Steinert, Music Director (920-410-2253) if you are interested in more information on any of musical opportunities at St. John's!
